Cannes and Cheekbones

I've been following the Cannes Festival this year in a bit more detail.
The biggest story from any of these types of events is what the celebs are wearing. But they were only half the story. What about the faces? One need look no further than the multi-billion pound cosmetic industry to know that makeup matters!
I haven't really looked too much before at the celebs faces as much as I have there fabulous dresses... But when looking more closely you can see the amount of skill there is to every aspect, from lipstick application to every well positioned curl in their hair.

One of the women that stuck out the most was Eva Longoria. There are some people in the world that can be made to look beautiful, when they have there features enhanced by makeup to give them the 'beautiful look'. Where as Eva is a naturally beautiful women, and the makeup enhances those features to make her a stunning women.

Looking at her makeup in more detail she has the perfect contoured eye which makes the eyes stand out and make them out to be wide and open.
With a shimmer to the brow bone adds the lifting and openness of the eye. This is something I do on a daily basis on my self, regardless of the colour. I recently have done a tutorial video for 'smokey eyes' which I will post on here soon so you your self can produce that amazing Eva Longoria eye. Its something MUA's have been doing for centuries. Once mastered can be the secret to seductive sexy eyes!

Natural lips with abit of gloss for the glamour look is applied to give the lips a shine.

And then highly defined cheekbones for the contoured cheek. This is something that is very very popular and will never age. Contouring the cheek gives an instant lift to the cheek bone. Looking at other Actresses that have done the same have got it down to a T! No matter the shape or size of your body, contouring is a massive must when it comes to makeup! Even if its very slight it will make a huge different to your face.

Lea Michele aka Rachel Barry from Glee has the ultimate chiselled cheek in this picture. Not all of use are blessed with prominent cheek bone structures so have ti create the illusion that we do!
Just below the cheek bone on an angle stopping just before the apple of the cheek is the perfect contour.
By applying it in a tone 3 or 4 shades lighter than your natural skin tone will give the shadowed look your looking for.
Theres 2 ways you can apply this...
1. Use a foundation on top of your natural skin tone foundation, apply and blend down.
2. Once you have sealed your foundation with a transparent powder (or whatever powder you chose to use) with a bronzer or darker foundation powder apply a line under the cheek bone and buff down.
You then should have something similar to cheekbone structure to Lea's.

Some more examples of the ultimate cheekbones and spectacular eyes have a look at the Cannes Festival on the internet.
Don't just look at the dresses and nice suits. But look at the art that is the makeup. Everyone thinks when you say makeup artist that were the same as a beautician... Were not. If anything it's an insult, makeup is an art, a skill and a profession. Yes everyday makeup like the above may not be 'artistic' or 'inspiring' but there are lots of different aspects to makeup that make it a skill that others cannot do.

All for now!
